Swedish House Mafia, one of the most renowned names in all of the music industry at this time, is currently on their final leg of their final tour. Returning to Madision Square Garden for the first time since December of 2011, their show on Friday March 1st marked the first day of their final month together as a group.

Entering to their new intro track “We Came, We Raved, We Loved” the trio began an approximately two hour set of massive anthems, original SHM tracks, and a crazy light show. Everyone knows Swedish House Mafia for their music, and everyone at the concert got the wonderful treat of being some of the last people to hear them play it live. Its certainly reasonable to think that the group might not split, and that they might reunite in a short while and recreate the SHM moniker, but I think that this truly is their goodbye. All three of the members say that while they have a great time producing as a group, they admit that they would much rather do individual work, with out the stress of having to conform to multiple people’s ideas of what sounds right. When Axwell let out a scream of “thank you for coming to our F*%$ing funeral” it fully hit me that one of the groups that brought EDM music to the place of global renown that it is in now will soon be no more. Nonetheless, Swedish House Mafia rocked Madison Square Garden, and when the lights went off, and I was left with just a ringing in my ears, I was satisfied with the awesome concert that I had just attended.

Swedish House Mafia’s final concert will be March 24th at Ultra music festival.
